Who we are looking for

We are looking for people who studied physics or mathematics because they couldn’t help it — the kind of person who has re-derived a result at 2 a.m. to make sure it was actually true, and who is quietly dissatisfied with explanations that merely sound right.

Credentials are weak evidence either way. What we actually select for:

• First-principles habit. When you meet a claim, your reflex is to rebuild it from the ground up rather than to check who said it.
• Appetite for the unreasonable. The problems we care about — machine reasoning you can trust, structures and rockets designed with it — are the kind most people file under “someday.” You should find that filing unacceptable.
• Willingness to build. Our questions get answered by running models, writing code, and doing experiments — not by position papers. You should like getting your hands dirty.

What working here is like right now

Century is at the very beginning, and we will not pretend otherwise. There is no large team, no established process, and no certainty about what the work will look like in two years. What there is: full ownership of real research questions, direct work with open-weight models from day one, and the particular freedom of a lab that has not yet decided what it is impossible for it to do.

If you need structure to do your best work, this is honestly not the right time. If ambiguity reads to you as room, it might be.
